What I Learned from Sunday's SMASHing Session

  • Skype communications makes a significant difference. If for nothing else to hear the young hordie in the background grousing about being pwned by Morlo and Smallevil.
  • Waiting 45 minutes for a game to pop, sucks, but going in as a group is totally worth it.
  • The transition from capping a flag to getting back on offense is pretty crucial. I believe that we lost the game because of how, when the Horde finally offed Flaiginbar and capped, they had their whole team in our flag room to pick up the next flag and escort it back for the second cap. After that, we (I) were discombobulated enough about what to do next that we were easy pickings.
  • All of our rogues need to have the minor speed enchant on their boots, and +AGI on everything else. My impression is that AGI > STA for a rogue. Morlo was doing great, however - he and I almost had their flag carrier Chewie on a couple of occasions, but just couldn't pull it off.
  • Early identification of the opponent Priests and Shamans is pretty important. Also, we gotta get a hunter in there to harrass the runners. Love those pets.
  • I'm not completely convinced about the wisdom of having a flag carrier hang around our flag room waiting to cap, instead of taking those three folks and joining them to the hunt for our flag - Flaiginbar, Meranda and Tristar must have withstood five or six concerted pushes, but if we'd had just one of them to help with Chewie, we'd have been able to return our flag. It's a bit risky perhaps, but perhaps the FC becomes the lead hunter, instead of being prey...
  • I know that I should focus on becoming the best mage possible, but the fact that we're just talking about lvl 19s makes me more interested in building up a whole stable of twinks - a mage, a priest, a druid, a hunter... I want to play them all..
  • I hadn't taken the time to build the macros I'd need for the BG, and wished I had. I'll have macros built to broadcast the flag location, and which exit our flag is leaving.
  • Even with the limited amount of playing together, we looked like a group with cohesion. A little more, and the sky's the limit - we might even lose 2-3....

I'm working on a some 19 alts. I love maging. Alas, my hunter is now almost 42. I noticed we have some high 30s / 40s and hope we do a second tier of BG twnkage.

I think you have to commit one way or another on the FR. EIther you leave three on D or you have everyone, incl'g the flag carrier, run as a pack.

LOVE the idea of ident'g the casters BEFORE teh gate goes up. Should be do-able.

ALso note: warlocks have pets. I generally set my minions on aggro and cut them loose. THey are handy when I can target a dude on the balcony but can't get a straight line-of-fire shot off. THe pet/minion will go up there on my command and usually the dude wil jump, giving me access to kill him/her.

PS
My mage can now make swiftness potion and will happily supply them, via Flaiginbarr. DOn't buy that shit on AH.
